For some reason, I despise getting up at 6am on Sunday mornings to make it to our track club's Sunday morning group run. I'm not a hater on the's really actually pretty great. A group anywhere from 15 to 35 people show up to run various distances and we've got two fully stocked water stops. So, it's not the group run that I's the time.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that most days I get up between 4 and 5am. So, by the time Sunday rolls around I just want to sleep until I wake up.

The problem with that is that I always have really good intentions of making up that run some other time on Sunday.

But, it never (or rarely) happens because as the day progresses, my affection for getting a long run in diminishes.

And that's what happened yesterday. Really good intentions of getting it done, but life got in the way and I made lots of other things a priority.

I've really got to figure out a way to get it in during the week, because really (and I'm not bragging) but I am so disciplined during the week to get everything I need to do done (which, coincidentally is a lot for someone who has no children) that by Sunday I feel it is my duty to myself to just take it easy. But, given the current crime rate in our fair town I don't feel safe running at 5am alone, nor do I feel safe running after about 6pm (when it starts to get dark) alone. Which leaves lunch time but who gets a two hour lunch break (and yes, I am aware that I'm a government employee, but I don't roll like that regardless of where I'm employed). I do get three of hours of physical training leave per week, but unfortunately I can't take it all at one time.

For now I'm going to cut myself some slack on it. I'm not training for anything that I couldn't do in my sleep (which means I can run a half marathon while barely comatose...sans PR though). I'll figure it out. At some point, this long run dilemma will hit me over the head like a ton of bricks, and I'll be able to put this situation to rest.

Until then, I'll continue to say I'm going to show up for the Sunday run and then back out as my alarm clock beeps continuously at 6am.

Have a great week!

I understand what you mean about the Sun run. If you like, we could start up another run like I had on Saturdays.
BTW, I knew you could not resist on wanting to run more with the mousie :) seeing that he is so cute and all that.

I am not a fan of early morning running, I really like my sleep also.
