I've still got this creepy crud stuff and although I'd like to totally gross Jeff out, I'll refrain from giving you a detailed account of really how sick I am. The cough syrup has been working just fine, if you know what I mean.
Sitting on the couch for 4 days and doing no running finally got to me last night. Unfortunately it was too late to run (like midnight) so I got up bright and early, lifted weights (what?) and headed out to the base around 6am. For some reason this morning just felt new. If that makes any sense. It probably helped that the thermometer hadn't even touched 65 degrees yet, and it probably helped that I was itchin' to run, and it probably helped that I really am feeling a little better. I got the first mile in solo and met up with 26Marathons just shy of the 1 mile mark. I was pacing around 10 minutes but knew that 26 would make me pick it up. And he did. And he even convinced me to run an extra .5 mile lap around the lake. I never even knew it existed. Our conversation sorta went like this:
26Marathons: Have you ever run the trail around the lake?
26Marathons: Want to do that? I think it will give us 3.5 total.
Guess that means I'm getting back to my normal self. Yahoo for that!
3.5 miles in 33:47. Yahoo for picking it up :)
I've got more short runs planned for this week to end with a 10k on Friday. And I'll be joining the local track club again tomorrow evening for speed torture. I've always wanted to have a reason to say "what doesn't kill me will make me stronger". Now I have that reason :)
Have a great week!
