MY FIRST TRAIL RUN: EVER

That was T-roi and I this morning....he was the hare, I was the tortise on my first trail run. Ever.

T-roi had a brilliant idea to run to the Pig Trails which is about a mile from our house. The mile there was not too difficult although it was starting to get HOT. When we got to the trails, we chose to do "Ryan's Trail"...a 2.3 mile easy loop. Or so we thought. 45 minutes later, I was certain that we had gone farther than 2.3 miles. It was a slow run since I've never run trails and the whole manuevering-arm-flailing thing was throwing me off a bit, but I knew it wasn't that slow...I'm guessing somewhere we stopped following the green signs and just went on our way. But it didn't matter because it was one of the best runs I've done in a while. I didn't have on good shoes which is something I'll address next time, but the shade, all of the trees, just being that close to nature was a nice change. And I'll bring water next time. But other than that, it was FUN. And it made me remember how much fun running used to be...back when I didn't care about splits, or pace, or aches and pains. Back when I was just happy to run.
I hope that we do this again next Saturday :)

Amy, you're quite quotable! I enjoyed what you said about "it was FUN. And it made me remember how much fun running used to be...back when I didn't care about splits, or pace, or aches and pains. Back when I was just happy to run."

I'll carry those thoughts with me this week.

And another thing, I keep meaning to tell you how much I like your counter--count-down meter--you know what I mean.

Very exciting for you!

Tom

Yeah for trail runs. They are slower and harder than a regular run.

Good job!!
