In addition to not making anymore excuses, I decided that the old Runner Amy used to eat lunch that she brought from home, rather than going out. So, today I brought a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (my fav) and settled in to have lunch and finish a book I started several months ago. And lo and behold, I found this quote in the book that totally made me think of myself:
"When I was on that plane, looking over the country that I had to run across, I was scared. I realized that now it's me, and no one else is going to stop me but myself. Everything is on my shoulders. If I make it, it's because of me, and if I don't, it's because of me." - Dave McGillivray, The Last Pick: The Boston Marathon Race Director's Road to Success
I couldn't have said it better myself.
And for my school teacher friends...forgive me if I totally didn't reference that appropriately....
